Patients

Patients that we treat

We provide specialized occupational therapy services for individuals across the lifespan. Our pediatric services focus on supporting children with developmental delays, sensory processing challenges, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and other neurodevelopmental conditions, helping them reach their fullest potential in daily life. For adults, we offer comprehensive rehabilitation for those recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, and other neurological disorders, with a focus on restoring function, promoting independence, and enhancing quality of life.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy helps individuals of all ages live their lives to the fullest by assisting them in improving, adapting, or modifying their skills and activities to lead healthier, happier, and more productive lives. Pediatric occupational therapy specifically supports children in reaching developmental milestones, addressing sensory challenges, and enhancing skills in areas such as self-care, play, and self-regulation. It also targets difficulties in movement, coordination, cognition, sensory processing, and visual-motor or visual-perceptual abilities.

At Delight, we create tailored therapy programs by combining a variety of treatments and services to meet the unique needs of each client. Our passionate therapist is dedicated to empowering individuals with evidence-based, personalized interventions that help them grow and thrive.

Photo-biomodulation

Photobiomodulation refers to the use of light to influence biological processes in living tissues, typically by using low-level laser therapy (LLLT). The term "photobiomodulation" is used to describe the therapeutic effects of light on cells and tissues to enhance healing, reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and promote tissue repair. Transcranial photobiomodulation is a painless, non-invasive, drug-free therapy that has shown no negative side effects when used correctly. We follow individualized protocols for each client, and are proud to be the only OT clinic in Tennessee offering low-level laser therapy for neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions.

Vagus Nerve Stimulation

Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) plays a crucial role in healing the brain and body for individuals with neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions by enhancing neural connectivity and promoting brain plasticity. By stimulating the vagus nerve, VNS can help regulate brain activity, reduce inflammation, and improve communication between brain regions. This process supports cognitive function, emotional regulation, and overall well-being, offering therapeutic benefits for conditions like autism, ADHD, stroke, and other disorders that impact brain development and function.

Eyelights

Eyelights are computer-chip glasses with either a row of Blue or Red LED lights. The color of the lights can impact behavorial and learning difficulties such as hyperactivity, increase attention span, and improve speed and accuracy. The lights can be programmed to flash and stimulate specific parts of the brain, causing global excitation of the brain. In strokes, the excitation of cells can support the recovery of damaged areas, aiding in the improvement of mental, physical, and cognitive losses. When the right eye is stimulated with light, the left hemisphere of the brain in affected and vice versa. This can result in elevated levels of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine.

At Delight, eyelights are utilized in conjunction with fine and gross motor activites, as necessary, in order to improve overall performance.

Primitive Reflex Integration

Primitive reflex integration refers to the process through which automatic reflexes present at birth (such as Moro, rooting, and grasp reflexes) are gradually "matured" or replaced by voluntary movements as the nervous system develops. When these reflexes do not integrate properly, they can persist into childhood or adulthood, causing issues like motor coordination problems, poor posture, learning difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and emotional or behavorial issues (e.g., anxiety, hyperactivity). Symptoms of retained primitive reflexes can include clumsiness, trouble with tasks requiring fine or gross motor skills, attention deficits, difficulty with emotional regulation, and academic challenges. Our specialized therapies aim to help integrate these reflexes and improve overall development.
